I haven't read Otto's rewrite of DEP-18 yet, but that was my feeling from the first iteration: it's a really grand project trying to do lots at once. I'd like to see some progress in this space and I think the chance of success is much better with smaller, more targeted proposals, that can pass muster and be adopted in series.
